Winemaker and viticulturist Shashi Singh has been a vigneron on the Mornington Peninsula for the last 15 years. Shashi, a scientist with a background in chemistry, has also completed a double degree in viticulture and wine science from Charles Sturt University. From 2005 to 2012 Shashi worked closely with Phillip Jones from Bass Phillip Wines in assisting him in crafting some of the best ever vintages of Bass Phillip.
Planted in 1987 on gentle north facing slopes the 4 hectare non-irrigated and low cropped vineyard produces only cool-climate syrah. The viticulture focuses on soil health, the protection of indigenous microbes and creating an environment of ecological self-sufficiency. The winemaking approach is one of minimal interference; using wild yeast fermentation with no fining, filtration or pumping, creating a wine unique to the property.
