Brash Higgins is Brad Hickey's wine label. In 2007, Brad, a New York City sommelier, swapped his wine knife for a pair of secateurs and came to work vintage in McLaren Vale. He never left.
With his partner, Vale vigneron Nicole Thorpe, they care for their 17-acre estate Omensetter Vineyard. Planted in 1997, it is in its second year of organic conversion and is home to the BH amphora raised Nero d’Avola, SHZ and Cabernet Sauvignon. Whether co-fermenting Biodynamic Grenache and Mataro or wild barrel fermenting Chenin Blanc grown in the deep white sands of Blewitt Springs, Brash Higgins is always trying to add something new to the winemaking dialogue.
