Whilst studying Fine Arts at RMIT Jarad developed a curiosity for the intricacies of wine.  In 2003 he took a position at the City Wine shop where he developed a vast understanding of the industry, which lead to the assistant winemakers job at Bress Winery in Harcourt, Victoria.


Jarad experienced further development when he travelled to his much beloved Northern Rhone Valley, France to work closely with Pierre Gaillard and the Family domain.

 

Jarad believes it is his job as a winemaker to capture the notions of time and place with as little interference as possible. The vineyard, the variety and the vintage are the main characters in the non-fiction story he corks every year. Jarad views winemaking as a privilege, the honour of creating something with your hands. He sees it as an extension of his art practice, the opportunity to contribute to a cultural discussion.
