Domaine Matassa was begun in 2003 and as of 2009 we have concentrated our focus around Calce and its more typically Mediterranean climate averaging 200m above sea-level on red-grey schist, calcareous marne and lime-clay soils.

Since our beginnings all vineyards are farmed naturally using biodynamic preparations. The vineyards are dry-land, bush-vines pruned to "gobelet". We have chosen to focus on the traditional varieties; Grenache Gris, Macabeu, Muscat d'Alexandrie, Muscat Petit-Grain, Grenache Noir, Lladonner Pelut, Carignan and Mourvedre.

To note that our older parcels (60 to 115 years old) are field blends with up to 10 different varieties planted. With these parcels surrounded by aromatic, wild garrigues, diversity becomes an obvious thematic, hopefully celebrated in our wines!
